Why use AM-Clad Antimicrobial Wall Sheeting?

Eliminate up to 99.9% of microbes in your hygiene-critical areas.

Antimicrobial Wall 1

Infection control is a subject that in recent years has come into sharp focus. Traditionally it was something that was only considered important for certain environments, such as in surgical theatres, aged care homes, laboratories or in food manufacturing/preparation industries. Now it is quickly becoming more prominent in everyday settings like workplaces and schools.

It’s more important than ever that builders, facility managers and workplaces are aware of the risks posed by poor infection control and actively work to reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses.

Some viruses can persist on hard surfaces for days. Bacteria like E. coli and MRSA can survive on some surfaces for months. However, regular deep cleaning of an office, school, factory or shop is a time-intensive and costly exercise, meaning it’s a task that is sometimes not attended to frequently enough.

AM-Clad antimicrobial wall  sheeting assists in reducing the time and money needed to keep high traffic and high infection risk areas clean and disease-free.

AM-Clad is scratch resistant

How AM-Clad antimicrobial wall sheeting works

In areas where AM-Clad antimicrobial sheeting has been installed, viruses and bacteria simply cannot live long enough to gain a foothold to start spreading.

Our PVC-based formulation contains billions of microscopic silver ion particles. Infused as part of the manufacturing process, these particles turn each AM-Clad panel into a sterile, non-toxic, food-safe surface.

Resistant to bacterial and viral colonisation, our PVC antimicrobial panels kill viruses and prevent the growth of bacteria, mould and viruses such as:

  • COVID-19
  • E.Coli
  • Influenza
  • MRSA.

Proven antimicrobial performance

AM-Clad’s antimicrobial performance was measured in an independent test* and the results are recorded and illustrated in the chart below. The  sheeting has been proven to be highly effective against the Top Ten most common pathogens or ‘superbugs’ and its resistance to chemicals ensures no reduction in performance over time

*In an independent lab test, 10 common microbes were selected, and each of them was incubated on panels for 24hrs at 98.6 °F and >90 RH. As the table shows, AM-Clad panels demonstrate high antimicrobial activity. Use of AM-Clad, along with an adequate cleaning regime, would significantly reduce microbial growth, including dangerous pathogens.

Reduce infection risk with AM-Clad

Continued protection despite bumps, dents or scratches

Regular disinfecting of high touch surfaces is a critical part of infection control. In many cases, bumping or denting a wall panel compromises any protective coating that may be present, meaning the surface must be cleaned more thoroughly and more frequently.

As AM-Clad’s sheeting is infused with silver ion particles during the manufacturing process, as opposed to being coated on at the end, the sheeting is able to maintain its protective barrier even when bumped or dented.

The surface of an AM-Clad panel is also scratch resistant, meaning that it can resist all manner of day-to-day impacts that come from being in high traffic areas such in school halls, hospital corridors or cafeterias.

At AM-Clad, we feel that our antimicrobial wall sheeting will revolutionise  internal walls from being traditional room dividers – to becoming our first line of defence against superbugs, viruses, bacteria and mould in hygiene critical areas.
